These units are very good card
readers, and are useful as flash drives, to transport files or save files to
flash memory cards. If you intend to use the MP3 player function there are some
things you should know. They accept SD secure digital flash memory cards, the specified card is SD/MMC secure digital multi media cards. Although the SD cards work they have some limited problems on some players. RS/MMC mobile memory cards do not work, sometimes they will read, but only play one to three songs then shut off or freeze up. I have found that with larger with cards that are 1GB and 2GB it will take awhile for the unit to read and start playing, if there are a lot of songs on them they need a strong battery or they will shut off. On the k4 model when the red light changes to dim orange and is flashing it is playing, then you can adjust the volume. If the MP3 player with SD card reader is not working, try formatting the card and put only a few songs that are in the correct format on the card, with only a few songs it should start playing right away. If there is a corrupt file on the card it will freeze or shut off when it is playing that song. Some songs that are stored on my computer played fine in windows media player but got corrupted when being copied to the card. If it still doesn’t work you may have a bad card or the unit is defective. These units go through a good quality AAA battery in 8 hours or less. These products are inexpensive and work fairly well, but if you want the navigation functions for a higher price there are other options see MP3 Players. The music files have to be in the correct format MP3, WMA etc. iTunes extensions do not work unless they are converted to MP3, and the music can not be in a folder or it may not be found. All music should be in the root of the disk. To turn it off you push the white button on the k4 model. No matter what size the card is you will only be able to put around 100 songs on your mp3 player with sd card reader, unless the disk is formatted fat32, they are formatted fat from the factory. Although the larger cards will work with MP3 player with Sd card reader, the only way to play another song is to scroll forward and back which takes a long time to get to the last songs on a larger card, if you just let them play the battery will be dead by the time you get to the end of the card, and unfortunately if you turn it off and power on again it starts back at the start. Therefore it is more practical to use alot of smaller cards that you can change, they start up quickly and navigate easier.
